Blades of Glory

When a much-publicized ice-skating scandal strips them of their gold medals, two world-class athletes skirt their way back onto the ice via a loophole that allows them to compete together as a pairs team.

A broadly likable if formulaic Will Ferrell vehicle, the film lands solidly as a sports-spoof comedy without fully transcending the genre. Critics found it funny enough, with Ferrell and Jon Heder's odd-couple dynamic doing most of the heavy lifting, but the predictable story structure and clunky scene transitions kept it from reaching the heights of Ferrell's best work.
