Lord of War

Yuri Orlov is a globetrotting arms dealer and, through some of the deadliest war zones, he struggles to stay one step ahead of a relentless Interpol agent, his business rivals and even some of his customers who include many of the world's most notorious dictators. Finally, he must also face his own conscience.

Lord of War lands its opening bullet's-eye-view sequence and gets solid mileage from Cage's sleek, morally slippery charisma, but critics were sharply divided over whether the film earns its anti-arms-trade message or simply lectures — and most of the friction centers on Yuri Orlov himself, a character critics found either compellingly watchable or frustratingly hollow depending on how much they trusted the script to do more than let him shrug off every crisis.
