Critics largely found this sequel a significant step down from the original — formulaic plotting, generic action, and a forgettable supporting cast were the consistent complaints. The one genuine argument worth having is whether Tom Cruise, so physically mismatched with Lee Child's page description of Reacher, nonetheless captures something true about the character.
