Fantastic Four

During a space voyage, four scientists are altered by cosmic rays: Reed Richards gains the ability to stretch his body; Sue Storm can become invisible; Johnny Storm controls fire; and Ben Grimm is turned into a super-strong … thing. Together, these "Fantastic Four" must now thwart the evil plans of Dr. Doom and save the world from certain destruction.

Broadly panned on release as a clumsy, lightweight superhero picture that squanders its source material, the film has since gained warmer popular reassessment — largely in contrast to the disastrous 2015 reboot. Critics at the time split between those who found its breezy, character-focused tone mildly charming and those who felt it was simply too cheap and uneven to belong alongside the era's better comic-book films.
