Rocky Balboa

When he loses a highly publicized virtual boxing match to ex-champ Rocky Balboa, reigning heavyweight titleholder Mason Dixon retaliates by challenging the Italian Stallion to a 10-round exhibition bout. To the surprise of his son and friends, Rocky agrees to come out of retirement and face an opponent who's faster, stronger and thirty years his junior. Rocky takes on Dixon in what will become the greatest fight in boxing history!

Critics were broadly but not unanimously won over by Stallone's late-career return to the franchise, finding it more emotionally grounded than the later sequels while still stretching credibility. The split was largely between those who saw it as a genuine, if improbable, redemption story and those who dismissed it as self-parody or sentimental wheel-spinning. The boxing community proved more enthusiastic than some film critics, praising the fight sequences as the most realistic in the series.
