What critics thought
A sci-fi premise about humans living through robot surrogates that most critics felt was squandered — the setup is genuinely intriguing, but the film pivots too quickly into routine action and a predictable script. The divide runs less between lovers and haters than between those who found the B-movie execution enjoyable enough on its own terms and those who couldn't forgive how much smarter it could have been.
