Due Date lands closer to a missed opportunity than a road-trip comedy triumph — critics found enough laughs to make it watchable, but felt its talented cast and director deserved sharper material. The film's biggest problem, by most accounts, was not the gags but the thinness of its characters and the relationships between them, leaving it feeling like a lesser echo of the genre classics it clearly wants to recall.
