What critics thought
Almost universally panned on release, The Watch wastes a likable cast on a script that can't decide whether it's a raunchy comedy or an alien-invasion spoof — and mostly just settles for penis jokes. The few defenders found scattered laughs in its improvisational energy, but even they called it disposable; the dominant complaint is that the concept, repeatedly compared unfavorably to Ghostbusters, never comes close to its own potential.
