Critics largely dismissed the film as a formulaic and creatively exhausted franchise closer, though Momoa's charisma and his brotherly dynamic with Patrick Wilson drew scattered praise. The sharpest disagreements fell around tone and purpose: a handful of reviewers found the buddy-comedy energy and James Wan's visual ambition genuinely entertaining, while the majority felt the humor undercut emotional stakes, the CGI action was derivative, and supporting talent — including Nicole Kidman and Randall Park — was squandered.
