A wildly entertaining Argentine anthology that earned broad critical enthusiasm, though not without dissent: detractors found the episodes uneven, the morality cynical, and the twist-reliant structure more gimmicky than it first appears. Where critics most disagreed was over whether individual segments — especially the opening and closing stories — justify the film's reputation, and whether its characters are vivid enough to carry the outlandish situations Szifron puts them through.
